They say legends never die, and The Waldon is proof of that. Long before the current community got its name, a hotel called The Waldon was a landmark in Melissa, TX. We preserved its name to honor the town's history and carry forward the legacy that started over a century ago, in a town that is now one of the fastest-growing cities in Texas.

The Original Waldon Hotel

Melissa was still a small railroad town in the early 1900s, and The Waldon Hotel was one of its landmark buildings. On April 13, 1921, a tornado tore through downtown Melissa, strong enough to lift The Waldon Hotel and spin it around on its foundation. A fire in 1929 later destroyed many of the buildings that had been rebuilt. Through it all, the Waldon name remained part of Melissa's story.

A Name Carried Forward

When it came time to build a new community in Melissa, the developers chose to honor that history. The Waldon today is a brand-new build, finished in 2024, taking its name directly from the historic Texas hotel, carrying a piece of Melissa's past into its promising future.

Character You Can Feel Today

That heritage shows up in the details, from the boutique feel to the warm, historic-inspired finishes throughout the property. The 6,000-square-foot clubhouse, complete with a Starbucks coffee bar and cozy gathering spaces, is designed with boutique-inspired style that feels more like a hotel lobby than a typical leasing office. The design draws on the character and charm of Melissa's past, rather than just another new build off Highway 75.
